Standing Voice is nothing without its supporters, and we are humbled to have had the continued backing of so many individuals within and beyond Africa this year. Because of you, we are able to continue defending the rights of people with albinism wherever they are at risk.
It’s not possible to mention everybody, but we’d like to pay special thanks to the 15 runners who completed challenge events earlier this year in aid of Standing Voice. Together our indomitable runners raised over £14,000: a wonderful achievement that will help to change thousands of lives in Tanzania and Malawi.
On March 24, our runners made their way from Downing Street to Pall Mall, on a route that took them past some of London’s most famous landmarks including the London Eye, Somerset House, Nelson’s Column, the Tower of London and St Paul’s.
I ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon to challenge myself and raise money and awareness for Standing Voice, in order to alleviate the challenges that people with albinism face. Having met so many people with albinism out in Tanzania, it’s their gorgeous smiling faces and beautiful hearts that helped me through the run.

I'm running for a couple of reasons. The first is that I had the privilege of travelling to Tanzania to meet an incredible group of people at the Summer Skills Workshop last year. The experience had a profound impact on my psyche, and I feel very grateful and lucky to have had the opportunity to visit Ukerewe. Fundraising on behalf of a group of people whose energy and positivity has enhanced my life feels like a very small gesture of thanks.

Well done and thank you to Jennifer Harrower, Jess Meyer, Robin Evans, Sinead Wheeler, Molly Hardy, Alex Booker, Andy Covington, Daniel Shindler, Jack Snell, Chris Ponting and Jamie Freeth.
On June 19, a different team of runners took to the streets of East London to run the Hackney Half Marathon in aid of Standing Voice. To Melis Ford, Alex Booker and Jacinta Williams: thank you and congratulations on your phenomenal effort.
