This year we secured an International Engagement Award from the Wellcome Trust. This has been used to deliver a project engaging Tanzanian communities in interactive discussion of the genetic origins of albinism. Bringing together scientists and artists from across the UK and East Africa, the project is using art, music, dance and theatre to communicate the science of albinism in socially accessible ways. In June, participants began developing their creative outputs at a collaborative workshop in Bagamoyo. They will reconvene later this year on Ukerewe Island for a final public showcase.
